Natural Born Blondes

At Paul Edmonds London colour is one of the things we do best and we are currently all about the blondes! Blonde can be achieved in different ways and over the next couple of months we will be sharing various techniques and trends to ensure you have the best blonde in time for spring.

We spent the day backstage at one of our recent campaigns – Natural Born Blondes, and we have been waiting to share the action with you. The fabulous colourist Jack Howard at Paul Edmonds London, Alfie and Paul himself created three stunning looks to capture the natural youthful blonde.

We spoke to Jack on set and he has shared with us how he achieved such a natural sun kissed look! Jack created different styles of Balayage (to sweep/paint colour onto the hair) according to what he thought would work well for our three gorgeous ladies.

The Micro Balayage (Babylights), The Classic Balayage, The Creative Balayage

For Natural Born Blonde Micro Balayage, the technique focuses on creating a more defined overall blonde look but still maximising the blonde enhancement.  The placement of colour is unique as it is applied on smaller sections of hair and the more sections you take the greater the depth (enhancement) of blonde throughout the hair.  The overall look more built up and striking.

For Natural Born Blonde Classic Balayage, the technique focuses on creating a more subtle skin kissed blonde look.  Think like a childs hair, their roots to mid length has been exposed to the sun less so it tends to be darker whilst the mid lengths to ends tend to be lighter.  The placement of colour is important here as larger sections of hair are taken (than in microbalayage) so you get a softer more fluid blonde look.

For Natural Born Blonde Creative Balayage, the technique focuses on creating a more glamours bespoke blonde.  Adapting the Classic Balayage, the application and placement focuses on areas of the hair (taking into consideration face shape as the placement can be used to elongate or soften the clients overall look) which can be enhanced to add extra wow and glamour.
