Stylist at Paul Edmonds London, Lizzie Hearn, talks us through party season at the salon and some of her favourite event-ready hairstyles to see you through the celebrations.

Slicked-back high pony

Few hairstyles can make you feel as confident, classy and sophisticated as the slicked-back high pony. With its unique ability to make a statement without looking too OTT, it can take any look from day-to-night with ease.

Lizzie is a big fan of the style: "At the minute, we're seeing a lot of slicked back high-ponytails – either super long and sleek or with big waves." Not only does it level up any Christmas party look, it's also practical – especially at this time of year. "The slicked look is very in at the moment because it's weatherproof, so on nights out in the winter it doesn't matter if it's windy or rainy."

Sleek low bun

For a chic and understated take on the trend, a sleek low bun is another good option for your party look – especially if you're going all out with a statement dress and want to complement your outfit without overshadowing it.

You can style your hair at home with minimal effort. "The sleek bun is a great look you can achieve at home. All you really need is a good gel, a hairband and a pin, and it can look so slick and expensive."
